Join us for a special training boot camp presented by the American Red Cross. MRC volunteers will be joining volunteers from the Latino Educational Training Institute (LETI) for this training. This teach and teach back training format will provide volunteers the opportunity to learn and teach the program to other attendees. After completing this training, volunteers will be equipped to present these programs at community trainings and outreach tabling opportunities.
Be Red Cross Ready
Be Red Cross Ready is a free preparedness education curriculum for adults taught by a certified presenter. The program curriculum is designed to help people understand, prepare for, and respond appropriately to disasters. Be Red Cross Ready utilizes a whole community approach to preparedness education. The program aims to reduce perceived barriers to taking preparedness actions by focusing on a step-by-step approach that is manageable, action-oriented, and affordable.
Prepare with Pedro
Prepare with Pedro is a free preparedness education program for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students to learn how to stay safe during a disaster and better “bounce forward” should one occur. The program is a 30-minute classroom presentation during which students learn how to stay safe during a locally relevant hazard (Home Fire or Earthquake). Students also learn psychosocial coping skills through deep breathing to be better equipped in an emergency. This program uses a storybook approach to preparedness, and the participants read along as Pedro the Penguin learns about disasters.
