Who We Are
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a community-based volunteer program sponsored by the Snohomish County Health Department that strengthens and expands the local public health system's response during a health emergency or disaster.
The mission of the Snohomish County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to allow local volunteer medical, and non-medical professionals to contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year as well as during times of community need. Our Medical Reserve Corps unit is made of volunteers who can assist our community during emergencies, such as natural disasters, unintentional or intentional manmade disasters.
The Snohomish County MRC was one of the first Washington state units, established in 2003. We are one of nearly 1,000 nationally recognized units and is part of Washington Region 1 which serves Tulalip Tribes and Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, San Juan and Island counties.
What We Do
The Snohomish MRC hosts regular unit meetings to ensure all volunteers are well-prepared and informed. These include Unit Orientations, Monthly Office Hours, and additional Informational Meetings as needed.
Unit Orientations
Unit orientations are required for all new volunteers. Orientations provide an in-depth overview of the National MRC program, as well as an introduction to Snohomish MRC unit policies and procedures. This session is essential to familiarize volunteers with the program’s mission, structure, and operational guidelines.Monthly Office Hours
Held the second Thursday of each month from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on TEAMS, the Monthly Office Hours offer a chance for volunteers to engage with MRC leadership, ask questions, and receive support. These informal sessions are designed to keep volunteers connected and informed about ongoing and upcoming opportunities.Informational Meetings
In addition to regular meetings, Informational Meetings will be held as needed to provide updates on outreach opportunities and activation duties. These meetings ensure volunteers are informed about new developments and can stay current on the evolving needs of the MRC.Trainings
The Snohomish MRC training plan incorporates both free in-person and online training opportunities to help volunteers develop the skills needed to contribute effectively to the unit. The training program is designed to be flexible, offering a range of courses that support volunteer growth and ensure preparedness in the field.
