Cold weather shelters open when the forecasted temperature is 34 degrees or below in the local jurisdiction. The cold weather shelter season last from November through March. Cold Weather Shelters | Snohomish County Public Safety Hub is updated daily to show which cold weather shelter are open in Snohomish County on any given night.
Steps to volunteer at the cold weather shelters
1. Take the Snohomish County Cold Weather Shelter Virtual Training
2. Contact the coordinator of the shelter(s) directly you would like to volunteer at. Their contact information for each cold weather shelter can be found on the Snohomish County Public Safety Hub cold weather shelter site.
3. Complete their registration process

To be covered MRC emergency worker liability protections, volunteers will need to complete the additional steps below:
4. In addition to steps 1-3 above, email Amanda the following information prior to the start of your shift.
5. Where you will be volunteering (Amanda will then add it to Galaxy)
6. The date and time of the shift you registered for.
7. Estimated time of when you will be leaving your home and returning home.
8. Once I receive your email, I will forward the information to DEM. I will then get your shift added to Galaxy so you may clock in.
